POSITION SUMMARY INFORMATION
Required Qualifications
Must have a minimum of an AA Degree in an Information Technology field from an accredited institution or two (2) years of related work experience in the area of network and desktop support.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Five (5) Years of Desktop and Network Support related work experience with an emphasis on support and maintenance of network, personal computer, hardware, software, instructional technology hardware/software; and
2. Current I.T. Industry related certifications and relevant I.T. training will be considered a plus.
General Statement of the Function
The Network Systems Technical Specialist will serve as front-line support between the Office of Information Technology and the users of the College’s information technology equipment and software for the main campus and other locations in the fivecounty district. The Network Systems Technical Specialist will work with the Director of Network Systems in the maintenance and support of the College’s Local and Wide Area networks, information technology equipment and software. The Network Systems Technical Specialist reports directly to the Director of Network Systems.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Serve as front-line support between the Office of Information Technology and the users of the College’s instructional and desktop software;
2. Monitor the Information Technology help desk software and respond to help desk tickets in a timely manner;
3. Work with the Director of Network Systems in supporting the Local Area Network as needed;
4. Work with the Director of Network Systems to document network systems and procedures as needed;
5. Work with the Director of Network Systems to support the College’s security camera servers and cameras as needed;
6. Perform technology equipment repairs and maintenance as needed at the main campus, workforce development training centers and PNCCTC as needed;
7. Diagnose and resolve instructional technology issues;
8. Diagnose and resolve desktop software issues in person and with the use of remote access tools;
9. Lift and install technology equipment weighing up to 40 pounds as needed;
10. Work from a ladder as needed;
11. Install cable in attics and crawl spaces as needed;
12. Help maintain a neat and orderly work area; and
13. Perform other duties as assigned.

THE COLLEGE
In 1928, the Legislature of the State of Mississippi adopted the first basic laws for the organization and operation of the
Mississippi public junior colleges. East Central Community College (ECCC) opened its doors to a freshman class of 20 students for the first regular session in September of 1928. In March of 1939, ECCC was first accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). The college is currently accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award the Associate Degree. Degrees or certificates are granted upon completion of program requirements. ECCC is also a member of the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) and the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC). Enrollment, including part-time students, exceeds 2,700 students each term. Evening courses and summer programs are offered throughout the five-county support district. The college also operates the Philadelphia-Neshoba County Career Technical Center located in Philadelphia, Mississippi. ECCC is supported by five counties located in east central Mississippi:
Leake, Neshoba, Newton, Scott, and Winston.
